I think I need a raise

August 1st, 2007 at 04:39 pm

I am having a REALLY hard time stretching our budgeted allotment for groceries/Wal-Mart (diapers, all household, etc). Our family of almost 11 budgets $700 per month for these items.

We're a week away from the next paycheck, but the fridge and pantry are rather bare. Plus, almost 7 yr old dd needs shorts.

Is this a "two steps forward and one step back" moment??

Seems you are doing well to have a food-household-diapers budget of only $700 for eleven people. Has your August expected baby already arrived? You have another child or two in diapers? You have a lot on your plate, even if there is little in your pantry. Do you need to think of an emergency plan for food, or do you have that figured out? My first thought is to borrow from the kids, as you mentioned a while back that the kids have saved quite a bit. But there are other routes.

Any way you could get some temporary help from your church or a food pantry? You are doing very well to keep spending that low. Hang in there!

It has nothing to do with you. It is this stinky economy!! Holy cow! How much more expensive can milk get? It's worse than gas! And meat!! Coffee! Even fresh veggies! You will just have to get SUPER creative! I have been trying to supplement our groceries by selling on ebay. I know you already do this, but is this something you could do more of?
